Whether you’re selling or buying a home during a pandemic or in a normal real estate market, the tips set forth here apply. However, due to social distancing demands, you and your real estate agent will have less face-to-face time than you would during a regular real estate market. It is more important than ever to choose a real estate agent with whom you can develop an excellent working relationship.

How to Choose a Real Estate Agent Who’s Right for Me?

Where should you start? As you might expect, ask around for references. Be sure to ask friends or family that have moved recently, perhaps even during the pandemic, so that you can have a clear idea of the referred agent’s current working style.

Next, you’ll want to examine your highest priorities in the selling process. Do you prefer to share information by text, phone call, or email? You’ll be communicating regularly with your agent, so give this question some thought.

Do you prefer to avoid confrontation? Choosing a real estate agent who will fight your battles for you might be the best choice for you. Then again, maybe you would be more comfortable with an agent that reflects your demeanor.

Additionally, you may find that a real go-getter (i.e., pushy, results-driven) agent is the best match for you so that they can quickly find you the right house to buy and gather many potential buyers. But then again, a part-time real estate agent that chooses to take their time with each client may be able to give you the individual attention you need to help you through this big decision.

There are no wrong choices here, but take the time to determine your answers as they will help you to choose a real estate agent that is right for you.
