Binding vs. non-binding quotes

For local moves, we will provide you with an estimate, which can change slightly. For a single item, we charge a flat (binding) rate. We provide a quotation for out-of-state relocations based on the distance to be travelled, as well as the weight and quantity of items to move.

As a licensed moving company, we are required to do a visual inspection of the items that we will be moving in order to give an accurate estimate. This can be done either in person or virtually, as we can schedule a free virtual estimate to give you a good idea of the total quote.

While a binding quote works well with single-item moves, interstate movers in California find that using a non-binding estimate for moves generally works out quite accurately. If you sell some of your items or leave them behind for the new owners, your quote may turn out to be less than the estimate.

Our delivery windows for our long-distance and state-to-state moving services are almost always one day, with a window of 2-3 days being a very rare exception and the absolute maximum. Additionally, 99% of the time, our long-distance moving crews deliver on the first day of that window of time.

  • Quotes for long-distance moves are based on a combination of distance and quantity (the total weight or total cubic feet of the items moved). The components of your long-distance moving quote include disassembly, loading, transport, delivery into specified rooms at your new home, reassembly, fuel surcharge, and the optional items that you choose to purchase, such as packing/unpacking services, packing materials, and moving coverage.

  • The protection of your belongings during transit is the primary focus of your long-distance moving crew, who are specially trained to prepare and load your belongings so they will be protected over their long journey.

    We care for your home with protective material to protect your flooring, walls, railings, and stairs.   • No, Camelot never subcontracts movers. We use our own employees, whom we hire and train, so you can trust us as your long-distance movers in Los Angeles. We do not work with larger van line companies either. Your belongings will be in our trucks and in the hands of our trusted employees from beginning to end.

  • A few items cannot travel in the moving truck, such as aerosols, flammable items, liquids, batteries, ammunition, and compressed gas. We can transport unloaded firearms if we inventory them individually and by serial number. Please discuss any firearms you need Camelot to transport prior to booking your move so we can make proper arrangements by Moving Day.
