Home Staging Services: Is it Worth it?

If you’re getting ready to sell or rent out your home or apartment, consider the value of home staging services. According to recent data, a staged home is more likely to receive offers over listing price, upwards of 23% over listing price. A 1% investment can return as much as 15% of your home’s value.

What Do Home Staging Services Do?

Home staging is the practice of arranging furniture and belongings to highlight your home’s best features and to appeal to prospective buyers, and therefore garner higher offers.

Interior design and real estate professionals with experience in home staging services will tour your property and assess your home’s space and lighting as well as your furniture, artwork, and home décor. Then, they will make recommendations of how to furnish and decorate your home to highlight its greatest assets. Being able to do this effectively is part art and part science! These professional recommendations will make your home look as appealing as possible to potential buyers or renters in person and in photos!

A well-staged home will appear de-personalized, spacious, and well lit, which often requires placing a lot of your belongings into home staging storage until you are ready to move into your new home. A full-service moving and storage company can handle the initial removal of your belongings, storage, and transportation to your new home.

Why You Should Plan on Using Home Staging Storage

By looking at home staging as one step in the moving process rather than a separate chapter, you will save time, money, and stress. Likewise, by contracting with a single moving company to handle the packing and storing of your items during staging as well as the loading and transfer of your items on Moving Day, you will be making the most of your moving services! All your items—whether they’re packed, stored, or staged—will arrive at your new home at the same time and in the same hands. Let your moving company earn their keep by coordinating your entire move.

Essentially, home staging services allow you to start the process of moving early. The process of packing up the items going into home staging storage will assist you in deciding whether certain items should make the final move with you to your new home. Successfully decluttering your home in advance of your move can be mentally and physically clarifying, not to mention it will save you a lot of money on your final moving bill. Thinking about having to pack, store, and then move an item to your new home may be just the incentive you need to get rid of it (i.e., gift it or sell it).

What Happens to Furniture in Home Staging Storage?

Once you’ve decided to work with a home staging services professional to present your property on the market, finding storage space is your next move. As mentioned, it will be easier to coordinate packing, storage, and moving your belongings if you work with a full-service moving company that can help you at every stage of the process. The experienced pros at Camelot Moving & Storage frequently work closely with realtors and professional stagers to pack up the right items to prepare your home for staging. Then they load your stored belongings directly into your storage vault from your home and transport your vault directly to our climate-controlled, secure storage facility at our Santa Clarita headquarters. Once you’re ready to move into your new home, our crew will pack up and load all the remaining items in your home, transport your personal storage vault to your new home, and unload all your belongings into your new home on the same day. By working with a professional mover that also offers secure home staging storage, you have less worry and stress about relocating from one home to the next and coordinating the many moving parts.

FAQ

What types of storage solutions do you offer?

We provide short-term storage, which can last from a few weeks to a few months, as well as long-term storage, which can last from months to years. Through our commercial storage services, which include logistical support such as receiving, quality control, and delivery, we have created ongoing, indefinite relationships with local businesses.

Our short-term storage services include home staging storage, which will allow your home to present well to potential buyers while it is on the market. We also provide holiday and seasonal storage. Imagine your garage free of holiday decor and winter sports equipment until you need those items delivered on demand. Short-term storage can also meet the needs of families that need to clear out a basement or home office to create space for a guest as well as those that find themselves between homes.

For individuals that are moving away temporarily for internships, college, and tours of duty, our long-term storage services will provide a safe and secure place for their belongings until they return.

No matter how long your belongings are in our care, they will be kept safe in our high quality, climate-controlled, pest-free, secured warehouse. Give our office a call to learn more about how you can bundle home staging storage with your moving services to meet all the demands of relocating your belongings throughout the buying, selling, and moving process.

How do you handle climate control and environmental factors?

Our storage facility is a concrete, insulated building that is housed under the same roof as our offices. The composition, placement, and design of the building provide fire-resistance, proper drainage, and protection against moisture and extreme temperatures. Additionally, the building meets proper fire-code requirements with a sprinkler system, and we store all items at least 6 inches off the floor to protect against potential water damage. We employ a pest-control service, and we inspect items going into storage to prevent any unwelcome guests from moving into our warehouse. As a result, there has never been damage to our facility or its contents from fire, water, or pests.

What is the process for moving items in and out of storage?

Our storage units are loaded into our trucks and transported to your home, where they are loaded by our crews. We do provide a packing service upon request, through which we’ll pack your smaller items into boxes for you. Whether you or our crew pack your boxes, our crew will load the boxes and other items to be stored into your vault and close the vault in front of you before locking up the truck and transporting the vault back to our headquarters, where your vault will be loaded directly into our warehouse. Our crews are experts at efficiently loading your vault to be centered and balanced and to best bear weight. However, upon request, you may bring your items directly to our warehouse to load your own vault before we close it and place it in our warehouse.

To empty your storage, you may opt for full-service delivery. We will load your vault into our truck, take it to your home, and unload the items into each room in the house that you specify. You may also unload your storage directly from your vault into your vehicle to transport to your home.

If you are taking advantage of our home staging storage services, we will bring your stored items to your new home on the same day we deliver the rest of your items so that all your belongings will arrive in your new home on the same day, allowing you to move your family into your new home in one step.
